ZedaSoft delivered an upgraded Advanced Rotorcraft Simulator to the FAA Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) in November 2021. The CAMI Human Factors division accepted the simulator in January 2022. The FAA uses their simulators to study and evaluate technical improvements to airspace awareness and rotorcraft flight safety.
The upgraded B407/B206 rotorcraft simulator includes:
After the simulator upgrade development and initial integration was completed, ZedaSoft conducted Flight Model Verification and Validation (V&V) with Rick Gorton, a retired Bell Test Pilot. Nathan Graybeal from Bihrle Applied Research (provider of the 6DOF Simulated Flight Model) also assisted in the Flight Model Verification and Validation on the SCT control loader integration and tuning.
We then integrated the upgraded simulator with the 3D Perception dome visual scene system at the Mike Monroney Center in the CAMI Human Factors Laboratory. Final acceptance testing and Flight Model V&V was performed by FAA test pilots and was overseen by FAA / CAMI Principal Investigator Researcher Kelene Fercho, PhD.
